VAC assists veterans and their dependents with employment opportunities so as to enable them with a stable family life on the one hand, and help with the economy and safety of the country on the other.
VAC offers employment assistance in two types: "Employment within VAC" and "Employment through VAC’s ecommendation".
(1) Employment Within VAC
In addition to the civil service positions within VAC, production institutes created by VAC, and the firms of VAC’s investment also offer employment opportunities for veterans and their dependents with qulifications and specialites.
(2)Employment through VAC’s Recommendation
To add up employment opportunities for veterans and their dependents, VAC also coordinates with institutes outside VAC’s jurisdiction; because positions within VAC’s institutes are limited, employment through VAC’s ecommendation has been the mainstream of VAC’s mployment assistance for veterans and their dependents in recent years.
(3) To assist veterans with employment opportunities in civil service, VAC also coordiuates to have following special exams held:
1. Civil Service Special Exam for Veterans. 2. Civil Service Special Exam for Retired Colonels and Higher Ranking Officers.
Technical Training
To provide vocational and technical training for veterans and their dependemts, VAC has set up a training center to offer day and right courses in computer, cooking, wiring, plumbing, heavy machine operating, bus and truck driving, fire-fighting, and apartment management, etc.
County and City Veterans Service Departments are incorporated in the VAC employment assistance programs by coordinating for various skill training courses. Recently, VAC has incorporated the employment service functions of its 22 service departments into 3 employment service stations in south, central, and north Taiwan, so as to better coordinate the employment resources and provide more job opportunities.
