 Commander-in-Chief Thomas J. Tradewell Sr. and Adjutant General Allen F. Kent of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States visited the Veterans Affairs Commission (VAC) for four days from 25th to 28th April, 2010.
The VIPs called on President Ma, Ying-jeou at the President’s Office in the morning of 26th April, 2010. President Ma remarked that the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has long enjoyed a reputation of veterans services in the United States, and has been a consistent supporter of the ROC over the past 50 years. President Ma also pointed out that Taiwan is gradually moving towards an all-volunteer military, a system the United States has so much experience for Taiwan to learn.
 Commander-in-Chief Tradewell expressed his appreciation to President Ma for taking time out of busy schedule to meet with them. He also said that he and his colleague are extremely pleased to be able to visit Taiwan, and he continued to say that VFW would keep on supporting ROC.
In the afternoon, the two VIPs paid a visit to VAC and called on Minister Tseng, Jing-ling. Minister Tseng briefly introduced the ROC policies for taking care of veterans by VAC multimedia presentation. Also, he presented the Medal of Honor with Cravat of VAC to Commander-in-Chief Tradewell and the Medal of Veterans Service of VAC to Adjutant General Kent, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to promoting veterans welfare and strengthening mutual relations and cooperation.
 After the VAC multimedia briefing, the VIPs learned the functions and policies of VAC. They expressed their admiration for VAC’s achievements in outstanding veterans’ services, which was modified from the American VA System.
