Close agricultural cooperation between Taiwan and the Foundation began in 1973. The VAC sent many experts from its farms around Taiwan to share their agricultural know-how and experiences in turning the originally notorious opium grown area into more valuable farm land. They introduced high economic crops from Taiwan, including fruits, vegetables and tea, and effectively improve the life of mountain people in northern Thailand.

Foreign Guests Visited Qingjing Farm

The Qingjing Veterans Farm was established in 1961. In the early stage, the farm provided a location for veterans to settle down. Later on, it was also home to the anti-Communist ROC soldiers and dependents relocated from the border of Yunnan and Myanmar. In 1985, the Qingjing Guest House was completed and therefore the farm was transferred to cover its tourism function. To attract more visitors, the farm started to explore new attractions, such as the Green Green Grassland, Sheep Shearing Show and Kazakhstan Equestrian Stunt Show. The farm continues to invest and to improve the facilities, and therefore help the booming of tourist business in the neighborhood. The success story of Qingjing demonstrates not only the hard-working spirit of the veterans, but also the efforts VAC has made to take care of the veterans.

While exchanging views of mutual concerns with Dr. Levy, Deputy Minister Lin pointed out that it is the government’s unshirkable responsibility to take care of veterans’ livelihood after they take off their military uniforms, since they have put their lives on the line and given up their youth for the safety of their country; therefore, their immense contribution to the nation should be recognized and repaid. Dr. Levy said, “Your services provided for veterans are very similar to those of Israeli veteran service mechanism. I earnestly hope that there will be more exchange of visits and interaction between our two organizations to enhance our friendly relationship and cooperation.”

What God desires are men and women whose hearts are warm and responsive toward Him, and whose lives are living demonstrations of His respect for the value and dignity of every human life.”
